Happenings and Possibilities

NOTABLE HAPPENINGS 2022
Once in a while, I do something right, like not traveling to Wisconsin for Christmas 2022. With some health concerns for Daughter #3 and family, it would have been too much for the Williams family if Daughter #1, Lady, and I had descended on their house for Christmas. And, then¸ of course, there was the winter storm of snow, blizzards, and below zero temperatures on the day we would have left home for travel to Appleton. Sometimes, we do something right!
Yet, sometimes in the world, someone does something incredibly wrong. I think in terms of Putin and Ukraine. Terribly wrong.
Still in the pandemic. By June, the pandemic seemed to be lessening. People started going without masks. I’m not sure that is healthy or safe.
Grands are successful in their lives – school, music, church, life. How can it be that they are both old enough to drive. Rose is in college; Lil will be there Fall 2023.
My three children (Daughters #s 1 and #3 and her husband) are now in their sixties. Does that make me feel old? I don’t think so.
The charities I support are Christ In The Desert Monastery (NM), Harbor House (WI), Marion Downs Hearing Center (CO), Shriner’s Hospital (TX), St. Jude’s Hospital. I wonder – can I do more?
COVID variants are rising. Are they as dangerous as the original?
MY HOPES FOR 2023
Cook more – really cook. I love to cook. But, not for one!
Stay as healthy as I can.
Encourage my offspring, neighbors, and friends to do the same.
Finally, get my house looking like someone really lives here and doesn’t just perch here.
Continue to be allowed to support the charities.
Send children’s stories and poetry to publishers until one of them wants to publish something. Work on the second volume of the Western stories with Sara.
Conserve energy (natural gas, electricity, car gasoline, (my own).
Conserve natural resources like water.
Enjoy my amethyst rocks – find the large piece of amazonite that seems to be lost.
Do a better job of keeping things safe. In other words, stop losing things so I have to spend time looking for them.
Have four-legged friends (Kate and Paisley) visit Lady and me, as often as possible.
Talk with Sister Clara every day.
Keep the house, yard, and auto in good order.
MY OVERALL GOAL FOR 2023
Stay living as a child of God.
Stay living as a parent and grand parent
Stay living as a sister / aunt, friend, and neighbor.
Be as kind and generous as I possibly can be.
Live a good life!
Be Safe and Be Well!
The Cranky Crone
Thoughtful comments appreciated!

Happiest and loveliest of new years to you and the gang.
Ps. I haven’t forgotten your request to write up something about my father’s passing. I’ll call you soon to discuss.
I really appreciate your thoughts on what you’d like to do this year. Worthy of posting on my frig:)
