Sometimes in life, each of us needs help from neighbors, friends, relatives, and even people we’ve never met. This is where I am right now. I’m asking for your help. Whether or not you have a direct (or indirect) relationship with God, I’m asking for your help.
Next week, I will have lower back surgery. My back / spine has not always been kind to me. Don’t know what I’ve done to have this happen. Maybe, it’s just old age. Living as long as I have, it may be that at different times in my life, things have happened to my spine. Things that I may not even have been aware of. Or, as I said, it’s just because I’ve reached an age when body parts start to misbehave – or I might say, disintegrate.
So, that’s where I am. With a lower back that needs help. It’s taken me several weeks to get everything in my life arranged for this surgery. When I’ve shared the information about surgery with relatives and friends, to a person they have told me of the difficulties of this surgery; about the cautions that I need to be aware of. And, believe me, I appreciate their information.
So far, I’ve had a pre-op visit with my PCP, blood work for clearance with the anesthesiologist, and have arranged for an appointment with my cardiologist (for her approval required by the surgeon). I have scheduled the surgical review with the surgeon, as well as an appointment with hospital representatives about the surgery. I don’t really know exactly what will happen during the surgery; I’ll find out when I view the video that is to be sent, soon. A friend said that for a surgery he had scheduled, he did not watch the video. I wonder if I will do the same when the video drops into my e-mail.
And, so, I’m asking for your help, my readers. A few years ago, I wrote a poem about supporting people who need our help. I’ve included it below, and I hope you will do what it says to put support for me out into the universe – maybe to God. Or, maybe, just maybe, to the universe.

Yellow Sticky Prayer
How many times have you been asked
To keep someone
In your thoughts and prayers?
A friend.
A friend of a friend.
A family member.
A club member.
A national hero.
Or, someone you see
On the street that you know
Needs special attention
From God.
Do you forget to include
The person in your
BIG prayers
At the end of the day?
I always think that
If being included in the
BIG prayer is good,
Being included
In a small prayer
Several times a day
Might be better.
There is one place
We all visit several
Times a day.
We brush our teeth.
We comb our hair.
We take a shower.
We do all of that other
Stuff we do in a bathroom.
To remember the
Person for whom
Extra thoughts and prayers
Are requested,
To keep that person’s name
In front of me all day,
I write the person’s name on
A yellow sticky and
Put it on the bathroom mirror.
So, every time I see
The name during the day
And, maybe, the night,
I can keep my promise
Of thoughts and prayers.
Nothing more than
“Please, God, keep him –
Or her – in the palm
Of Your hand.”
Every time I see the name.

I’m asking you to put my name on a Yellow Sticky and put it on your bathroom mirror. Just The Cranky Crone. I’ll let you know what happens as soon as I have more information about this event.
Be Safe and Be Well

Thoughtful comments are welcome.
